Flat-ribbon / flat-round Cables

Flat-ribbon / flat-round Cables

In flat ribbon cables, the individual conductors, unlike regular round cables, are arranged in a parallel fashion next to each other rather than in a circular arrangement. Up to 96 individual conductors can be processed in a flat ribbon cable.

At Schneider Cable Harness Assembly, we can also custom assemble special cable configurations such as flat-round cables or twisted-pair cables with twisting, where only the terminated ends are manufactured as flat ribbon. This cable form is particularly used in electronic assemblies and computer setups.

This design allows flat ribbon cables to be processed particularly easily using the cut-and-clamp technique, as not every individual conductor needs to be crimped or soldered. Typically, post connectors or other large-format connectors such as D-SUB connectors are used in this process.
